Abstract

The rapid growth of the e-commerce industry in Indonesia in recent years has brought many positive impacts on the digital economy, but has also created challenges in terms of consumer protection. This paper aims to comprehensively analyze how regulations issued by the government play a role in protecting consumer rights and their impact on the sustainability and growth of e-commerce businesses. Using a qualitative approach through literature studies and secondary data from official institutions such as the Central Statistics Agency and the Ministry of Trade, this paper finds that regulations such as the Consumer Protection Law and the Regulation of the Minister of Trade have made a significant contribution to increasing public trust in digital platforms. This consumer trust directly contributes to the growth of the national e-commerce sector. However, in its implementation there are still obstacles, such as the lack of understanding of small business actors regarding legal regulations, weak government supervision, and the dynamics of digital technology developments that are faster than the legislative process. Therefore, a strategy is needed to strengthen the implementation of regulations through synergy between the government, business actors, and the community so that consumer protection can run optimally amidst the acceleration of the digital economy
